We are excited to have Boundary Devices LLC, a leading supplier of iMX-based single board computers and System-on-Modules (SoMs), partner with Mender to further accelerate the adoption of over-the-air (OTA) software updates in the connected embedded devices market.
Boundary Devices provides high quality and cost effective boards that include industry-leading software support. Integrating Mender will enable Boundary Devices’ customers access to a best-in-class robust, secure and efficient end-to-end OTA software update solution, ‘out of the box’. This allows customers to manage and deploy software updates for bug fixes, new features, improvements and vulnerability patches, making their connected devices more functional and secure.
Mender is used in Nitrogen8M and Nitrogen8M MINI platforms which are based on NXP i.MX processors and compatible with the Yocto Project. The SoMs offer an ideal platform for cost-sensitive designs that require high-performance for general-purpose applications with OTA software update capability.
To get started, instructions are provided for Nitrogen8M for building an image that can run on the respective board which will have Mender integrated to perform OTA software updates. The integration creates Yocto Project image, including a disk image that can be flashed to the device storage during initial provisioning and an artifact containing filesystem image file that Mender can deploy over-the-air.
