Mender.io is excited to partner with BayLibre, an industry leader in embedded Linux and IoT for consumer and enterprise markets. BayLibre has pre-integrated Mender.io secure OTA into a number of their projects, including the AIoT Linux SDK that BayLibre has developed in partnership with MediaTek. This enables BayLibre customers the ability to securely manage and deploy software updates remotely anywhere in the world and it also allows for faster bug fixes and vulnerability patches, making their connected devices more secure.
With the advent of IoT and the proliferation of connected embedded devices across a variety of industry verticals, one of the biggest challenges in developing competitive products is the ability to efficiently deliver remote application updates, while ensuring industry best practices in security and robustness. Due to the scale of connected devices and the increase in vulnerabilities that have affected devices across all embedded markets, support for OTA updates has become a mandatory requirement for providers of IoT devices. An update mechanism requires attention to operational and security nuances. Being always up-to-date is crucial to a product’s reputation and end-user satisfaction given the potential repercussions of a ‘bricked’ or compromised product. With Mender, customers of BayLibre can be assured they have been provided with a software update solution that takes these issues very seriously and delivers on that promise.
“BayLibre has successfully deployed Mender.io Secure OTA in the field across our diverse customer base and the wide range of device form factors that we help our customers build”, said Michael Turquette, CEO at BayLibre. “In addition to the flexibility and security of Mender’s solution, we have seen a strong customer response to the commercial hosting solution provided by Mender. Of course, customers have the choice to host the back-end themselves or through Mender.io, and we’ve seen great success for customers that trust the team at Mender with their OTA hosting needs.”
