Embedded devices are increasingly connected to networks and or the internet, commonly referred to as the Internet-of-Things (IoT). Toradex has grown interests from their customers for remote over-the-air (OTA) updates of firmware and software capabilities.
Mender is an end-to-end open source software updating system for embedded Linux devices and it offers both the client and server for managing software updates, both of which are licensed under Apache 2.0. It provides meta-layers for Yocto and OpenEmbedded which allows it to integrate with embedded Linux devices using these built systems which includes Linux board support packages (BSP) and evaluation Linux images provided by Toradex.
