Mender brings secure and robust over-the-air software updates to TechNexion

We are excited to officially partner with TechNexion to further accelerate the adoption of over-the-air (OTA) software updates in the connected embedded devices market. TechNexion is a leading manufacturer of a powerful range of efficient and cost effective SoMs (System-on-Modules) based on ARM architectures. Integrating Mender will enable TechNexion’s customers to have access to a best-in-class end-to-end robust, secure and efficient over-the-air (OTA) software update solution, ‘out-of-the-box’.

With an active open source community supporting a large number of different hardware and operating systems, Mender is already integrated into other TechNexion development platforms as part of a growing and popular stream of embedded boards supported by Mender Hub community users and contributors such as PICO-PI-IMX7 and PICO-IMX7D SOM.

Due to the increasing demand for both connected embedded hardware and software to include OTA software updates, Mender and TechNexion have further collaborated on a device integration for PICO-PI-IMX8M-MINI development kits which is compatible with the Yocto Project. This integrated solution offers an ideal platform for cost-sensitive designs that require efficiency as well as security and robustness in managing software and devices remotely anywhere in the world.

To get started from scratch, instructions are provided for the newly integrated PICO-PI-IMX8M-MINI for building an image that can run on the board which will have Mender integrated to perform OTA software updates. The integration creates Yocto Project images, including a disk image that can be flashed to the device storage during initial provisioning and an artifact containing filesystem image file that Mender can deploy over-the-air.

Mender supports both application and system updates with advanced features to enable risk management of large scale device deployments worldwide, which means it provides a complete solution for all software updating needs.
